Mrs. Higgins
Occasionally I mention Mrs. Higgins. She is not a real person, although I did have a Mrs. Higgins as a teacher in grade school: a warm, caring human being who burst into tears when the overhead loudspeakers in our classroom announced that President Kennedy had been shot.
The Mrs. Higgins herein is the archetype of civics teachers everywhere: graying, experienced, and dedicated to making sure their students understand how government functions and – even more importantly – how to be a good citizen.
