Tell me again

why it’s okay for you – or your children – not to wear a seat belt? Think it won’t happen to you? So did these people:

“A Janesville man was killed and another injured when their pickup truck rolled over, ejecting both the driver and his passenger. Neither was wearing safety belts.”

“15-year-old driver not wearing seatbelt ejected and killed”

A Waterloo Ill woman “was not wearing a seat-belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.”

“two children who were ejected were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. One of the children, police say, is young enough to be in a car seat”

“An 11-year-old girl, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the passenger side of one of the vehicles and was transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.”

“On Friday, police cited Addison W. Smith, of Wagener, for not wearing a seat belt. Early Sunday morning, as investigators approached the 20-year-old’s overturned Chevrolet S-10 pickup, they saw Smith ejected from the vehicle . Again, Smith was not wearing a seat belt, according to a news release from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, who pronounced Smith dead at the scene from severe head trauma.”

“Drivers not wearing a seat belt are seven times more likely to die in a crash.”

So go ahead. Tell me why it’s okay.
